In brief

What works, what to weigh

Strengths

5 reasons to book
  • Unbeatable station-side location — The hotel sits directly across from Kyoto Station, putting the bullet train, subway, city buses, and the station's many shops and restaurants within a short walk.
  • Genuinely helpful staff — Guests repeatedly note the courteous and efficient team, with at least one English-speaking staff member on duty.
  • Clean and well-kept rooms — Rooms are described as clean, tidy and quiet, with air conditioning, heating and an electric kettle as standard.
  • Practical on-site facilities — Guest laundry, luggage storage, a 24-hour front desk, and a business centre cover the essentials for travellers.
  • Good value for the area — With a price from £42 per night and a value score of 7.9, guests consider it a fair deal given the location.

Worth weighing

4 to weigh
  • Rooms are compact — Standard doubles and singles are small, as is common in Japanese city hotels. Some guests suggest booking a twin if you need more space for luggage.
  • Breakfast is geared to Japanese tastes — The included breakfast is fine if you enjoy Japanese-style dishes, but it may not suit everyone's palate.
  • No on-site parking — The hotel does not list parking facilities, so guests arriving by car will need to find public parking nearby.
  • No pets allowed — The hotel has a strict no-pets policy, so you'll need to make other arrangements for animal companions.

“Pleasant service, quiet rooms, a fair price, and a location that's hard to beat with the train and subway stations practically on the doorstep.”

8.1Verified guest

“The location is first-rate, the rooms are clean and quiet, and the breakfast is good if you enjoy Japanese-style options.”

8.1Verified guest

“Excellent value and location — it's a 2-minute walk to Kyoto Station. A practical tip: if you're booking for two people in a budget hotel in a major Japanese city, choose a twin rather than a double. You'll get more luggage space and won't have to squeeze along the wall if the double is pushed against it.”

8.1Verified guest

“Staff were helpful and courteous, the room was spotless, and the location in front of the railway station was excellent. Wired internet was included.”

8.1Verified guest

“This has to be the best value location in Kyoto. It's directly across from Kyoto Station, with the bullet train platforms and the city bus terminal right next door.”

8.1Verified guest

“I'd thoroughly recommend this hotel for its central spot just outside Kyoto Station and the subway. After a long journey, it was a relief to find the hotel right there. Trains to Nara, Osaka and elsewhere all leave from the station, and the city centre is about 3 subway stops away. The hotel felt clean and luxurious for the price, and the station area has restaurants, cafes and bakeries open until 10pm just across the road. I'll definitely suggest it to friends and family, and I hope to return.”
